Nikki Lyons. A shot at the title!

You can’t make your reputation on what you’re gunna do.
That age old saying rings true in the shearing industry, especially when history and experience show us that the biggest tallies in shearing are usually shorn at the pub, and the heroic feats performed increase in size and scale in direct relation to the quantity of alcohol consumed.
You have to front up, draw your line in the sand, lace up your moccasins, oil up your cutters and use actions rather than words, to earn your reputation.
Nikki Lyons is the latest in an amazing line of women shearers that have been brave enough to have a crack at records and try to cement their name and place in shearing history.
Nikki is not yet as well known as the likes of Megan Whitehead, Sacha Bond and Catherine Mullooly, but it’s worth remembering that they too all had to earn their reputation and that the only place where success comes before hard work is in the dictionary.
Nikki is looking to set the first 8-Hour Women’s Merino Lamb Shearing World Record on Saturday the 16th November at “Marilba” Yass in NSW.
She has set herself a high bar regarding how many she wants to shear, and unlike those previously mentioned gas bags at the pub who are all talk and no undermine, her reputation will be earned with hard work, courage, stamina, dedication, style, commitment and good old-fashioned guts.
We are excited to watch Nikki, like the other amazing women who have set records, play her part in changing the perception of what is possible, as she takes her shot at the title, and we hope you will all get behind her with support and encouragement.
Go Nikki. Give em hell.
